What kind of Sewing Machine do you recommend for a beginner? Do you use yours?

I wanted to learn to sew for a long time but never bought a sewing machine. I was afraid of not being able to teach myself and I have sat in a corner collecting dust. Now I'm taking a class and I'm thinking of buying one soon. I wonder if you have any tips on sewing machines. Also, I like to know if you get a good use of yours and what types of projects that were mainly used for (Home Decor, new clothes, adjustments, repairs, etc. ..). Thanks for your help!

My mother bought me Janome gold jewel when I was younger and I love it. She liked it so much, also bought one (just to have a "To-Go" sewing machine I could tote around.) I've used for everything from mining to sew fine leather upholstery (with special needles used to it) for what it can handle almost anything. Now I can do home decor a bit and that certainly can handle almost any type of fabric I found and never need a repair (I've had for about 5 years at least.) In fact, I have really enjoyed the mines that have gone out to buy two new machines (one and a machine overlock sewing / embroidery machine) and made sure they were both Janome. Moreover, these machines Janome Gem are relatively inexpensive and very easy to use. I suggest you get one of them. Marks remain White include remote (you can find in these Walmarts) and sadly Singer. The singer was a good name, but since then has been quite toward collapse. My mother and grandmother of two had singers and definitely not buy any of the models that have emerged over the past 5-10 years. Old Singer machines are still good, but the most new machines that are seen to lead. = Also, although I have three machines now, I still use my Janome Gem Gold from time to time because it is smaller and easier to get out and use my larger machine. If you ever travel with a computer – is also what I would choose hands down.
