Where can i get a cheap, used Dress Form Mannequin for sewing purposes?
i need it to be cheap!!!
it can be modern, antique (preferably), any size.
does anybody know of any thrift stores or other stores selling them on Long Island, Connecticut, or Massachusetts… or even a reasonable website?
Don’t see many of these in thrift stores. However, you can make one yourself very easily — just Google “Duct Tape Dress Form”!
Basically, you put on an old T-Shirt, then let a friend wrap you up in Duct Tape like a mummy. Then cut down the back of the T-Shirt (that’s why you want to use an old shirt). Remove the duct tape/T-Shirt, tape it shut, then stuff it with old rags and such. Voila! Instant dress form customized to your size.
You can build a stand out of PVC pipe if you’d like — or find any thin piece of furniture that’ll hole it (umbrella stand?)
