What sewing machine do you recommend for a beginner?

I always wanted a sewing machine, and I finally get one after another to want 18. I usually hand sew everything, so I'm finally trying to get a nice machine, no more than $ 200 for a beginner sewer. Suggestions? Everyone knows about sewing machines that they sell at Walmart? I live in Hawaii, so my store options limited. Any help would be great! Thank you! Anyone have an opinion on the lines of boredom or Singer?

I would go to a machine shop Sewing for support, but given your budget is really realistic. I started with a $ 150 Brother machine from Walmart. Boy is a piece of shit. I thought I was not thy very good seamstress until I got my new machine and I discovered that it was the machine that sucked so bad. In your price range, I recommend getting a Kenmore machine from Sears. They also sell good quality presser foot. Good luck!
